The Pistols January 1978 US tour was initially scheduled for nine dates, however resulting from Vicious' drug use and the breakdown in relationship between Lydon and McLaren was cut short after seven exhibits. The only charted as quantity seven. In accordance with Cook, after the "God Save The Queen" single and the Grundy incident, the Pistols had been public enemy number one, and there was a rivalry between gangs of rockabillies, Teddy Boys and punks, which regularly led to violence. On 14 January 1978, in the course of the tour's ultimate date at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, a disillusioned Rotten introduced the band's encore saying, "You'll get one number and one number solely 'cause I'm a lazy bastard." That one quantity was a Stooges cover, "No Fun". At the top of the track, Rotten, kneeling on the stage, chanted an unambiguous declaration, "This is not any enjoyable. No fun. This isn't any enjoyable-at all. No fun." As the ultimate cymbal crash died away, Rotten addressed the audience directly-"Ah-ha-ha. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? Good night time"-earlier than throwing down his microphone and walking offstage. |
